A foldable mobile with a black inner display is not always suffering from a failed screen. A hard crease, flickering panel or touch fault can also point to hinge damage, a stressed flex cable or an impact that has affected the frame. Inspect the hinge and chassis before fitting a screen

Examine the hinge covers and outer edges for impact marks. If the device was dropped on a corner, the force may have travelled through the frame even when only the screen appears damaged.
Open and close the device slowly. It should move consistently and sit as designed in both positions. After reassembly, water resistance should not be assumed. Factory sealing, pressure testing and hinge protection are difficult to reproduce outside the original manufacturing process. When DIY repair makes sense
